Firearms Legislation General News
Roadblock advice from Martin Hood – courtesy of SAGA
Summary of current situation as at 2nd October 2025
- In 2021 a draft Firearms Control Amendment Bill was circulated, commented on and subsequently withdrawn.
- In 2021, at the time DearSA recorded delivering 97 399 unique comments on the proposed amendment bill. Of those 93 482 (96%) rejected it.
- It appears that there is another amendment bill being discussed but the firearm industry stakeholders are not being included in the discussions.
- The alleged new amendment bill may or may not be the same as the one circulated in 2021 – this has yet to be confirmed, but on reading Ian Cameron’s document with the response to his question, it seems possible that it is the same.
- We await further developments on the above.
