Who is the person in charge at a CTSASA Championship?
👉🏻 If you have a problem, then this person is in charge of everything at a CTSASA championship………………
……………… The Convenor of the Jury
The Convenor of the event (who is also the Convenor of the Technical/Appeal Juries) is the person with whom you should speak with regard to any problems you may encounter at the competition. For example :
-
- Safety issues – have you seen anything that is a cause for concern? If so, it is your duty to inform the Jury Convenor.
- A complaint about another competitor’s behaviour – is someone behaving in a manner that is disruptive or which could be considered unacceptable?
- Jury protest – if you have experienced a problem whilst shooting your competition targets and you wish to bring it to the attention of the Jury. You may give your written protest direct to the Convenor or a member of the Jury for your discipline.
- Problems with an umpire – the Convenor must attend to any issues that are potential problems with umpires or scorers.
- Target setting – the Convenor (along with another Jury member) may review the targets to ensure they are within the range setting specifications.
If the Convenor is unavailable for any reason, then the next person with whom you should speak is any member of the Jury. The Jury list will be posted in the administration area at the club.
Vital points to remember : Know your rules and know how to resolve issues as follows:
During a round of competition targets the following should be handled immediately :
- A protest regarding a hit or missed target – ensure you know the procedure for your discipline. Any protests regarding whether a target was hit or missed cannot be judged by the Jury.
- Target setting – if you see that any target is not within the specifications for your discipline, you have the right to ask the Umpire or a Jury Member to check the target/range.
- Poor behaviour by a competitor – if a fellow squad member is not following the rules or is behaving in a disruptive manner you must ask the Umpire to intervene. If the Umpire is unsure of the procedure to handle this, then stop the round and either speak to the squad member yourself or call for a Jury Member.
