- The history of the Mackintosh International Postal Championship : The International teams event started in 1930 and was only contested by the home countries of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Donald Mackintosh requested that Australia be allowed to enter the competition, after permission was granted, Donald donated the perpetual trophy for this event and Australia participated from 1939 [source]. More countries joined in subsequently, resulting in the teams we see today.
- The South African Mackintosh Championship is a standalone DTL Trap event of 100 targets on the last day of the South African Grand.
- All members may compete in this event.
- There are medals in all the classes and categories.
- In addition to the medals for individuals, this event also selects teams for the Mackintosh International Postal Championship.
- The team results are submitted to the international administrator for the calculation of the team results received from the other countries involved in this postal championship – Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Wales, Canada, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
