Jake is the Head Coach for the Midland University sponsored shotgun sports team in the United States (Fremont, Nebraska more specifically).  They provide scholarships for their student-athletes and cover all shooting related expenses.  This includes ammo, practice targets, entry fees to matches that they compete in, travel accommodation (transportation, hotels, meals on the road, etc..) They are a small college in eastern Nebraska with roughly 1500 students.

They seek youth shooters (16-18 years old) who would be interested in continuing their education and getting a scholarship to earn a degree while also shooting at the collegiate level in the United States.

“Coach Jake McThenia was named head coach of the Midland University Shotgun team in 2020. McThenia took over the role after two years of serving as a graduate assistant on the team (2018-19, 2019-20). In his lone season as head coach, McThenia has coached his team to a National Trap Team title, a fourth-place nationals championship finish, and produced an All-American.

In his time at Midland as an assistant, McThenia was a part of two conference titles teams. Before coaching, McThenia was a student at Midland University and a member of the shotgun team from 2014 to 2018. McThenia was on Midland’s firstever national championship team (2016-17), three conference champion teams (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-2018), and a runner-up national championship team (2015-16).

McThenia is originally from Westminster, Maryland and graduated from Midland with a Master’s degree in Adult Organization and Leadership, and a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Coaching.”
